Humans of Hiram

Our new Humans of Hiram spotlight features a different Hiram faculty, staff, student, alumni or friend each month.  Today we feature Brad Goodner from our Biology Department.

Brad Goodner Ph.D. – Professor of Biology

Professor of Biology, Brad Goodner, grew up near the Red River in Wichita Falls, TX. He has a B.S. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M and earned his Ph.D. in Biology from Purdue University. When asked what is his favorite thing about Hiram, Brad replied “the true sense of community. I truly believe that most, if not all, of the faculty, staff, and students want the best for each other.”

Professor Goodner says that he strives to be a life-long learner who is always willing to laugh at himself. He enjoys cooking in his spare time, and hopes to open his own lunch-only diner after he retires with a new menu every day – noting that he and his daughters daydream about menus. We asked him to share a funny fact about himself, and his response illuminates his true dedication to his craft. “With my wife's permission, I once went two weeks using deodorant on only one armpit just to do a microbiology experiment for my class. It did feel strange."
