Teaching piano, organ, recorder, directing choirs, and hand bells keeps music in my life. Recently I received The Heritage Award for "having a positive influence on the quality of life in the community over many years" from the area Chamber of Commerce.

News from John Chaich '95

Posted By Administration, Friday, December 4, 2015

After debuting at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York City to critical acclaim in the New York Times in 2014, the Queer Threads exhibition that I have curated is traveling to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) from December 11, 2015-March 13, 2015 and Mills Gallery at the Boston Center for the Arts from April 22-July 10, 2016.

The exhibition features 26 artists from 4 continents remixing fiber traditions and materials to explore contemporary LGBTQ identities and ideas.

At MICA, Hiram alum Katy Bishop (class of 1995) will participate in a related event, Queer Threads, Common Ties, exploring intersectionality.

In summer 2016, a companion coffee table will be published by AMMO Books, edited by Chaich and legendary interdisciplinary designer Todd Oldham. For more information, follow Queerthreads on twitter and instagram.

I am an independent curator, designer, and writer based in Manhattan. I graduated in 1995 with a major in Communications and minors in Writing, Sociology and Gender Studies.
