|William R. Brinker '54|
After his study of chemistry at Hiram, Dr. Brinker earned his M.D. from Case Western Reserve in 1958. A distinguished career in private ophthalmology practice has provided Dr. Brinker with the opportunity to affect thousands of lives in the Ravenna, Ohio area. Dr. Brinker has been named "man of the year" by the Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks and NEO Social Workers (in different years). He also received a Humanitarian Service Certificate for services provided in Viet Nam.
Dr. Brinker served on the Board of Directors for the Christian Medical Society and as a founding member of the Amigos de los Americas missionary overseas program. He has traveled frequently to South America to administer proper eye care to people in needy areas. Also, during his regularly occurring visits to South America, he provided free treatment and surgery to the underprivileged.
Dr. Brinker has been selected as the recipient of the 1992 Alumni Achievement Award in recognition to his lifelong career in medicine and his continued contributions to his community.
