Elizabeth (Reed) Cupp '51
Share |

Elizabeth Cupp has been the shining example of an educated, professional woman.  Growing up in the 50's, there were not many women who went to college, went on for their masters, became a teacher, then superintendent of a school, but Elizabeth Cupp was all that.

She encourages and has encouraged many a young High School student to investigate what Hiram has to offer.  She has contributed to the new recreational building, contributed monies for books for the nursing college – given in the name of her Mother, who was a Hiram graduate and nurse, and her Aunt, who also was a Hiram graduate and librarian.

Cupp delivers Meals on Wheels, sings in the church choir, directs the youth handbell ringers at the church, volunteers at the Geauga Park District, and she and her dog have been certified to go into nursing homes for pet therapy.

Cupp has served on many Burton committees throughout the years, from voting for the school levy to promoting Burton festivities.  She is passionate about education, Hiram College, and her home town of Burton.
