Originally from Bedford, Ohio,  Susan, her parents, and brother were all Hiram graduates.  She married and moved to Louisiana in 1962, where she had two children and was a faculty member of Louisiana State University's graduate education program for 25 years.

Susan has been a leader, volunteer, and philanthropist in many ways throughout her life.  A partial list of her service and leadership includes serving as:

  • President of Louisiana State University Faculty Club and the Baton Rouge Chapter of the American Association of University Women
  • a member of Delta Kappa Gamma
  • a docent for twelve years at Magnolia Mountain Plantation
  • a Board Member of the Baton Rouge Opera Guild and the Foundation for the Women's Club.

Susan loved her time at Hiram and has given generously and regularly over the years to the annual fund.  A member of the Eclectic Society, she also contributed a large gift to the Bowler Hall renovation.

Most notably, she has given very generously over the years to honor the memory of her parents, Ned and Lois Hubbard, by contributing to the scholarship fund established by them that has helped countless students for decades.
