Jim has dedicated countless hours to securing a strong future for the College he loves.
Jim works closely with the athletic department to orchestrate football reunions, and he contributed to increased alumni involvement by encouraging his own teammates to participate in alumni events. Additionally, Jim serves as an advisor to Tom Mulligan to help grow the program, both by helping to attract new recruits and by empowering the coaching staff and working together to build a stronger

Additionally, Jim is partner in Burkey, Burkey and Scher law firm with fellow Hiram alums, Bob Burkey '63 and Elise Burkey '85.
In addition to a law practice, family life and ever-growing dedication to Hiram, Jim and Karen have managed to launch a successful specialty food business – Uncle Jim's Pepper Mustards – which the Whole Foods chain has been recently picked up is now in 45 stores in seven states. Jim and Karen volunteered to speak about their entrepreneurial experience in a Fireside Chat on campus this year.
Jim Scher is yet another example of a Hiram alum experiencing great successes in a career and in life. What makes Jim special is that in the 25 years since he left campus he has shared his experience and each and every success with Hiram along the way. We are truly blessed to have Jim as a part of the alumni community.
