Hiram Night Out in Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust welcomes alumni and friends of Hiram College for a private reception and gallery talk at the Wood Street Galleries. Enjoy beer and wine while curator Murray Horne provides us with a brief presentation about the exhibit, Miguel Chevalier's Power Pixels 2013. Hiram College Students Take Classes To The Seas
During this past fall's three-week session, two Hiram professors, Rodney Hessinger and Renee Gutierrez, took twenty two students on an educational trip to the Caribbean. What might sound like a leisurely cruise was in fact a rigorous 17 day exercise in managing a sailing ship. Days on the ship not only included class time, but cooking and ship maintenance as well. Students Witness History in Washington, D.C.
Nearly 50 Hiram College students, faculty and staff witnessed history on Jan. 21, 2013, as they traveled to Washington, D.C. on a 24-hour bus trip for Martin Luther King Day and President Barack Obama's second inauguration. Work Begins on Energy-Efficient TREE House
Hiram College is taking the next steps in renovating the energy-saving TREE (Teaching, Research and Environmental Engagement) House with an initial energy analysis. On Feb. 6, energy specialists Pam Pierce and Gregory Jones from Learn About Green LLC led a group of students and faculty through the process, which involves a blower door test, duct blaster test, thermal imaging and more. President Chema Named to NAICU Board
Hiram College President Thomas V. Chema has been named to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). Chema will take his seat on the board Feb. 6, when the body meets in Washington, D.C. NAICU serves as the unified national voice of independent higher education. By March, 80% of the world's population crowds a 150-mile stretch, the largest gathering of cranes anywhere in the world! Creative Writing at Northwoods Field Station

What better place to reflect, create, and write than the remote, rustic and stunningly beautiful Northwood's Field Station in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Workshop leaders and hosts include:

This trip begins in Istanbul, where for over 2,500 years east has met west. Highlights include the Grand Bazaar, Gallipoli, the Aegean Island of Bozcaada (Tenedos), Bergama (Pergamon), and Pammukkale (The Cotton Cliffs).
