Panel Discussion on a Nuclear Agreement with Iran
Presented by the Hiram College Garfield Center – Washington, D.C.

Hiram College's Garfield Center for Public Leadership presents this first in a series of Washington, D.C. based conversations. Join Hiram alumni and friends for a reception followed by a panel discussion on the Challenges, Risks, and Opportunities of Verifying a Nuclear Agreement with Iran.

The panel of experts includes:

Ambassador Gregory Govan is a retired US Army Brigadier General who led the US Onsite Inspection Agency (OSIA) in the early 1990s and subsequently served as the senior US government representative to the governing bodies of the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty and the Open Skies Treaty.

Harvey Rishikof has recently been named the Dean of the National War College. He is the Chair of the Advisory Committee for the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Law and National Security.

John Lauder '68 will moderate this panel as a Garfield Institute Steering Committee member and Hiram College alumnus. Lauder was a member of the recently completed Defense Science Board Task Force on Assessment of Nuclear Treaty Monitoring and Verification and recently testified on June 10th before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the challenges to be faced in verifying compliance with a nuclear agreement with Iran.

Courageous Inspiration

Jeremy Meier, assistant professor of fine and performing arts at Owens Community College in Toledo, will portray Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, naval hero of the War of 1812. He brings alive the battle of Lake Erie, one of the biggest battles of this little known war which lasted over two years.
