Harmonia at Hiram College

The renowned folk ensemble Harmonia will present a free concert at Hiram College on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. in the Frohring Music building.  Harmonia plays the traditional music of Eastern Europe, ranging from the Danube to the Carpathians.  Its repertoire reflects the cultures of the region:  Hungarian, Slovak, Ukrainian, Romanian, Croatian, and Gypsy.  The ensemble’s performances on authentic folk instruments evoke the full range of human emotions, interspersing fiery, passionate virtuosity with soulful melancholy and nostalgic yearning.  The concert is co-sponsored by the Hiram College Music Department and the Hiram Community Trust.  Contact Tina Dreisbach at: or 330-569-5294 for more information.

Humans of Hiram

Our new Humans of Hiram spotlight features a different Hiram faculty, staff, student, alumni or friend each month.  Today we feature Jenni Heid.

Jenni was born in Akron, OH and raised in nearby Stow. She is currently studying Biology with a Pre-Veterinary focus and is on track to graduate in May of 2018. Jenni describes herself as outgoing, organized, and driven. She insists she is a true dog lover and takes pride in being passionate about helping all sorts of animals and people. She loves the close-knit Hiram community.

On campus she is a Teaching Assistant, Orientation Leader, Arch Tutor, OCI Program Assistant, Student Ambassador, and member of the Women’s Varsity Swim team.

Jenni says the funniest thing about herself is her total dislike of tomatoes and anything that is made from them, including ketchup!
