Internship Database for Hiram Students

Career & Academic Development is launching a new internship database. Housed internally, the database will be visible only to Hiram students, faculty, and staff. The goal is to showcase internship opportunities that are offered regularly and are open to Hiram students.

Do you regularly host interns? Would you like Hiram students to see your internship first before they search other national or regional databases? If so, please fill out this short form so your internship can be added. Submitting your internship to this database is no guarantee that it will be filled by a Hiram student, however, Career & Academic Development staff will be encouraging students to search this database first, giving priority exposure to our alumni and local internships.

Humans of Hiram

Our new Humans of Hiram spotlight features a different Hiram faculty, staff, student, alumni, or friend each month. Today we feature Anne Vainer '80.

Anne was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She studied elementary and special education here at Hiram and is a member of the class of 1980. Anne enjoyed many aspects of her time at Hiram, but her top three include the small class size, the liberal arts education she received, and the many lifelong friendships she made during her time on “the Hill.” Anne is thankful that the liberal arts curriculum provided her with opportunities to take a variety of courses on campus.

After retiring from Barberton City Schools in 2011, Anne has spent her time volunteering for local organizations such as Junior Achievement, Akron YMCA/Camp Y-Noah, Barberton Kiwanis and the Cuyahoga Valley Civitan. As an advocate for students with disabilities, Anne continues to spend time volunteering in the classroom as well. For the past seven years, Anne has also served as an Alumni Executive Board member at Hiram. As an AEB member, she enjoys connecting with prospective future Terriers, supporting current students, and working with other alumni to increase participation in Alumni Volunteer Day, Terrier Treks, and several other regional events.

Anne defines herself as curious, and insists she will be a detective in her next life. She enjoys traveling, quilting, painting, and spending time with her niece and nephew. As an avid cookie dough and cake batter lover, Anne says she will never believe the hearsay of their consumption. In fact, she isn’t a fan of the finished baked goods, just the dough and batter!
