Alumni Office Internship Blog
Week three was odd. If you think about it, when you start a new job in the summer, it is exciting when Memorial Day comes around but you return to work that following Tuesday and it is always so confusing. Just when you are getting the hang of things, now you have to struggle to remember what day it is and why Wednesday feels like some other day or Friday feels not quite like a Friday.
Anyways, this week, I enjoyed the chance to be shuffled around different offices, upstairs and downstairs whenever there was a meeting where I usually am working. For me, it is always refreshing to work somewhere different so these were productive days. I even had my first remote phone interview I held in one of the library’s study rooms with a Hiram Alum who just so happened to be a supporter of the Hiram College Gardening Interns—a job that I had last summer—I was delighted to talk to him about it and the importance of gardening. I was very thankful; it is not every day that you actually get to thank someone who helps you out from afar. I was very glad for it.
Alumni Weekend is coming up, and these two weeks until feel very short with it looming nearby. My co-worker, Andrew Lang and I had our first tech meeting to plan and train for Alumni Weekend. We learned some filming tips and I am excited to see how this goes, I really will be using that iPad! For Alumni Weekend I will be doing these flash rounds of interviews with the celebrating class of 1968, I am so excited for the overload of stories that I am going to hear!
Writing wise, I am finally beginning to finish some articles and bios this week. I am getting those done I sort the word counts in my head and try to articulate a clean, professional style.
I am looking forward to the full week of week number four and to what will come.
